Dedov Dmitriy Ivanovich (born on February 22, 1967, Novograd-Volynsky, Zhytomyr Region of the Ukrainian SSR, USSR) – Doctor of Law, Professor. Currently, he performs his duties as the judge of the European Court of Human Rights from the Russian Federation.
Most of his legal career he was involved in teaching and research. He taught at the Department of Entrepreneurial Law of Moscow State University, gave lectures on entrepreneurial law and taught special courses on legal regulation of the labour market, joint-stock law, legal regulation of entrepreneurship in the EU and judicial protection of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs.
Areas of scientific research: implementation of the general principles of law in the legal regulation of entrepreneurial activity; legal regulation of business in the law of the European Union; corporate right.
- In 1984-1991 he studied at the law faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, majoring in jurisprudence.
- In 1991 he entered the graduate school of Moscow State University. In 1994 he defended his thesis on “Resolution of collective labour disputes in Russia and the USA: a comparative analysis.”
- In 2005 he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Implementation of the principle of proportionality in the legal regulation of entrepreneurial activity” at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
- In 2002 – Laureate of the Prize of Moscow State University named after I.I. Shuvalov for the monograph “The Proportionality of the Restriction of Freedom of Entrepreneurship.”
- Since 2003, assistant professor, then professor of the Department of Entrepreneurial Law, Faculty of Law, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
- From March 28, 2008 to December 1, 2012 was the judge of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, was a member of the Sixth Judicial Panel (expert panel).
- 2010 – Lecturer at the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies in London.
- In October 2012, was elected as the judge of the European Court of Human Rights from the Russian Federation.
The author of four monographs and more than 70 scientific articles.
