Abstract:
The article examines the global consequences of the pandemic and worldwide trends in the context of the national security of the state. According to the analysis of macroeconomic indicators, reports of the International Labor Organization and the World Health Organization for 2020, the main problems faced by the world community during the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 were identified. The virus hit the disadvantaged and vulnerable segments of the population most severely, leading to a sharp increase in unemployment, poverty, and death. Meanwhile, the prospects for increasing the level of national security in the near future remain uncertain. It is concluded that effective self-isolation measures taken in the early stages of the epidemic can lead to a faster economic recovery by curbing the spread of the virus. Preliminary lessons from the 2020 pandemic are the following: 1) the process of global economic recovery will directly depend on overcoming the health care crisis through sufficient changes in health care and social assistance system in different countries; 2) to build a better future, it is necessary to take into account digital and distance innovations based on the needs of people; 3) the world community is faced with a choice: saving people’s lives or saving their economic existence; 4) no single country can cope with global crises and pandemics alone, therefore, collective interstate mutual assistance is required, regardless of political differences and economic sanctions.
